I intend to take both AP Biology and AP Chemistry. If I take AP Chemistry my junior year I can take Scientific Research in Chemistry AND AP Biology my senior year. Should I do this or switch the order? I also have the option of taking AP Biology sophomore year concurrently with honors chemistry.
It doesn’t make a huge difference, but you can do either of your scenarios. Where does Physics fit into your schedule? Selective schools want to see Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
I took honors Biology as an 8th grader, but not algebra. So, as a freshman I have to take IPC (Integrated Physics and Chemistry) in order to gain math skills. I would take honors chemistry and honors physics my sophomore and junior year, respectively.
I would rank your 3 options as follows, depending on your strengths and interest in science:
- 10th: Honors Chem, AP Bio; 11th: Honors Physics, AP Chem; 12th: Scientific Research in Chem
- 10th: Honors Chem; 11th: Honors Physics, AP Chem; 12th: AP Bio, Scientific Research in Chem
- 10th: Honors Chem; 11th: Honors Physics, AP Bio; 12th: AP Chem
