Hey ya’ll my I’m gonna be a senior in hs next year and I’m having trouble with deciding on which classes I should take so I have come to you guys for advice.
Junior year schedule: AP English Language, Pre Calc, APUSH, AP comp sci principles, Physics, Spanish 3, baseball
For senior year, I signed up for: English, AP Calc BC, AP Gov/Econ, AP Physics C Mech, AP Spanish 4 Lan, AP Computer Science A, baseball
The thing is though, I want to take AP Psych since I’m interested in the subject but I don’t know which class to replace it with if I should replace any at all. I’m intending to be a CS major but Psychology would be my next choice (a backup if you will). I’m thinking to substitute in AP Psych for:
AP Physics C Mech: I already took regular Physics so I have knowledge of Newtonian motion already. In regular Physics, you learn a more diverse field of topics like optics, motion, nuclear, and more, where as AP Physics C Mech is just about objects in motion. Plus, I don’t even know if knowing the motion of objects is necessary for a CS major who wants to code and develop software. My school only offers AP Physics C Mech for some reason I wished they offered electricy and magnetism which is probably important for CS. But, at the same time college apps are coming and I want that STEM and AP science for my schedule rigor to look more impressive.
AP Spanish: Probably the least important AP class I have, but I want that Seal of Biliteracy plus people told me that 4 years of language helps in college apps.
What should I do? Should I replace one of the two classes or keep what I have? AP Psych would be a really interesting and fun experience for me but at the same time AP Physics and AP Spanish are great in their own ways as well.
(Dont factor in varying difficulty of classes, Im really confident I can get an A in AP physics, AP Spanish or AP Psych, so theres no need of me taking a class cuz it’s an easier A than the other)
Thank you so much for your advice and time!
