Should I take AP World History or AP European History as a sophomore?

I know this may have come up in the past, but every situation is different, so I thought making my own discussion would be better for me. I am going to be taking either AP World or AP Euro next year, but I am not entirely sure which one to take. When it comes to teachers, there is only one for each subject. I currently am in a Global Honors class (the highest level class for freshman) and my teacher is the same one that is the AP World teacher. The thing is, she is not a very good teacher, in that she will only go over certain topics on a unit/section, and only for about 10 minutes, as well as not putting notes on the board, but lecturing our class (I know college might be like this, but the way she does it is nothing like how a normal professor would teach). Also, she will tell us things that will be on the test/quiz, and then she marks the answer as the opposite. She will put questions we never learned about on the test as well. She is nice to me because I am in the club that she is the leader of, but when it comes to teaching, it definitely isn’t her strong suit. As for the AP Euro teacher, from what I’ve heard, he gives a lot of extra credit, and puts notes on the board as well as explaining them. I know teachers are not necessarily as important as understanding the concepts/getting good grades, but the teachers affect how well we know the concepts, and in turn, get good grades. I think European History is interesting, but we have to take the Regents (NY) for World History & Geography at the end of 10th grade, and apparently we learn it all within two months. Based off of what you know and have read about my situation, which one do you think would be the better choice for me? Thank you in advance!

A few thoughts:

• Paragraphs are your friend. A continuous block of text is difficult to read.
• While you are certainly welcome to vent here, I will caution you as you go into the college applications process, don’t blame the teacher for anything.
• If you’re taking Global Honors this year, you should have the background necessary for Regents. Without knowing the specific curriculum at your school, in general, one does not need an AP course in any subject to ace Regents.
• With all that, for APWH vs. APEH, take whichever one interests your more and/or whichever one has a better track record on the AP exams.

Since you have Global Honors, Skieurope is right, you’re good for Regents. Anyway, all you need is to pass REgents and if you’re in honors, you will as long as you study beforehand.
Always go with the better teacher, so, in this case, so with European History.

I would say AP Euro
