Should I take Calculus my freshman year?

I've been looking through this forum and been seeing the common notion of taking Calculus freshman year because the great med schools require a year of calculus.

I took AP Calculus and made a 5 on it. Should I go ahead and just retake Calculus I and then take Calculus II my second semester?

My current schedule for 1st semester

Chemistry I + lab 4 hours
intro Psychology 3 hours
Human Geography 3 hours
intro French I 4 hours

Please help an upcoming pre-med.

i would highly recommend you take calculus because right now, its fresh in your mind.

From what I have read, it is strongly recommened that you have a firm math foundation early on so that you can handle the math required in the science classes that are pre reqs. I'd take it as a freshman.
