I'm already taking stats next semester and I am considering taking trig on the side. I guess I'm hesitant because trig isn't at all transferable, and I could be taking a transferable course (articulated, actually) in place of trig. BUT if I stick with trig, I could take precalc next, and ultimately, calculus, racking up at least 10 units of transferable credit. And I really did enjoy precalc in high school....

Am I crazy to even consider this? I want to maintain a competetive GPA as well, so maybe I shouldn't risk it. What do you guys think?

pre calc goes after trig? I’m taking pre-calc right now and it’s so easy. It’s all been basic algebra 1 and algebra 2 stuff so far. Like, basic graphing, quadratic equation, simple stuff like that. if trig doesn’t articulate and you really want to take more math, then just skip it to pre-calc.

if it’s not a pre req for you, then just take calc P/NP if you are worried about your GPA.

No idea why you’re even considering this, unless it has implications on possible future graduate studies. If you want to learn calculus, you can do so on your own. What’s your major, btw?

I am considering taking calculus because it is much more applicable if I were to switch majors or career paths.

For example, I am half-pondering the notion of pursuing an MD. I don’t want to be completely shut out from doing a post-bacc program and ultimately attending medical school because I have limited exposure to the courses that would be taken by premeds.

I know it sounds like I’m half-insane and can’t make up my mind about anything. But should I at least commit to transferring for psychology and focus on that? Should I jump in head first for the time being, or should I be working actively to keep long-term possibilities attainable?
