Hello all! I was hoping that someone could give me some advice about some classes. I am an adult student currently finished up my AA degree and I hope to be attending university in the spring. For my major, I need to take a couple of Calculus classes, which is where my question comes in.

In order to take the classes, I have to take College Algebra and Trigonometry OR Pre-Calculus. I have already taken College Algebra, but that was over a decade ago. I've never taken Calculus before, but I did take a semester of Trig in high school (around the same time as the algebra class).

Which class would you take, Trig or Pre-Calc?

I had a classmate in my Calc I who never took trig! If I remember correctly the Trig in Calc I is pretty straight forward (not very involved), its more the algebra that people have a problem with. I would recommend reviewing trig on your own time and taking Pre-Calc.

If this helps any, my junior year of HS I took College Algebra and Trig and my senior year I took Pre-Calculus. Pre-Calc helped a lot more this semester when I took Calculus I (and got an A).

Thanks to you both! I had pretty much decided on the pre-calc class, but wanted some feedback to make sure that I wasn’t making a huge mistake.

I believe the only difference between those classes in lots of university is that Pre-calc assumes you know algebra and it continues onto it, and teaches trig from the basics.
