Hi i'm a rising sophomore and i'm just about done with Algebra 2 High Honors. At my school that's the most challenging math class any freshman can take(and its only only really algebra 2 for about half the year. The second half is like pre-trig and statistics). I'm at about an A for the year by a few decimal points. I was wondering if any people out there have taken geometry over the summer and how it put you at an advantage/disadvantage. 90% of my class is going to trig/precalc next year and i dont wanna be left behind... thanks.

Watch how the credit is given at your school. Taking Geo outside of school may have effectively knocked me out of the contention for valedictorian, since it wasn’t weighted.

Hi! I took Geometry in 8th grade, Alg 2/Trig and Pre-Calc as a freshman (our math courses in high school are blocked and semester long). Honestly, the only thing that Geometry teaches that ever really comes up again in Trig and Pre-Calc is “soh-cah-toa,” so sine, cosine and just really basic trig stuff, so taking it wouldn’t really give you that much of an advantage. At my school, geometry focused a lot on proofs, theorems and postulates… things that never showed up in Alg 2, Trig or Pre-Calc. In my opinion, you definitely will not be left behind if you don’t take geometry over the summer

Take geometry over the summer. I am freshman who just finished it and if I could have taken it over the summer I would have

Yes.

Over summer. But don’t make the assumption that it won’t help for trig, because it does.
