Should I take Honors Biology?

I am going to be a freshman next year and I needed more advice on whether or not to take honors biology. I’m not the most interested in science but I have been finding our genetics unit this year very interested and I want to learn more about it, but I want to learn about it from a higher level, where I can go at a faster pace. However, I am not sure if I will enjoy the rest of biology. I do not typically consider myself a science person, but I do enjoy learning about new things and I think some of the things in biology could be fascinating. I also learn at a faster pace than most people.

I am willing to put in the work in honors biology, but I am taking AP World History and Honors Language Arts and I know that those classes will take up a lot of my time, especially AP World. Originally, I signed up for Honors Bio with these classes, but now, I am not sure. Also, I want to try my hardest to keep A’s or A-'s in all of my classes.

So do you think I could handle Honors Bio with my schedule and if anyone here has taken it, what is it like and how much work do you have to put in to maintain a good grade?

The workload and difficulty of the class will vary from school to school. I would suggest talking over the class with either the teacher of it or your future guidance counselor for next year.

You seem rather intelligent and mature for your age. I think you should be able to manage your schedule just fine even with Honours Biology onboard, just maintain your work ethic throughout the year.

If you find it too difficult or time consuming, you can always drop down to regular. Usually you can’t “switch up”, however.

At my school, the class is pretty easy. I maintained a 98 avg. I can’t speak on the behalf of your school, however.

The class mainly focuses on simple genetics (Punnett Squares), molecular biology, natural selection and so on…it varies from state to state, but these should be the basics. I love biology, even took AP Bio last semester. If you’re good at memorizing more information, then take Honors. Standard will be less challenging and not as much information, while honors can be rigorous.

Honors Biology is pretty Rigorous. I Managed to pass with a B. This semester we have to do a IB Format Research Paper that is 2400 words (7-9 Pages), I still have no idea what I am going to do. We have to do that essay so they can weight the class or something. We just took the unit test based of Genetics, it was a small unit but it was interesting. If you up for Labs ( lab write ups), critical thinking and essays then I would recommend you staying in it
