My school requires that you take bio to graduate but it only offers IB bio HL which is two years and standard bio. I want to take a more advanced bio but not two years of HL bio so this summer I will be doing an online class. So what is the difference between AP and Honors in terms of difficulty and would an AP biology class even be worth it?

I took honors as a freshman and AP as a sophomore. The content for AP is a lot more in depth. The general content isn’t drastically different, but the level of complexity makes AP Biology a lot more worth it, in my opinion. If you don’t. Anyways, that’s my experience from the classes at my school.

Thanks. Any other opinions?

I took honors in 9th grade and AP in 10th. Honors really didn’t help at all because AP was so much more in depth. I really liked AP, and if you study for it you’ll be fine. The exam is hard though cause it has nothing to do with the class :-<

I haven’t taken it but my friends say AP bio is extremely lecture/book heavy, so if you’re alright with that then go with AP. In terms of the actual AP exam, like physics/computer science(to a much lesser extent), it’s based on the labs you’re suppose to do throughout the year so I’d recommend getting a review book early on in the game.
