i just checked my scores on myberkeley app and i got a 5 in calc bc but which math is easier because i don't want to hurt my gpa and i'm an engineer major.

Editted Out.

i want to know from people who have taken math 1b and 53 which is easier

I took 1B at a community college and 53 at Berkeley during the summer session. I think 1B is the most difficult of the 3 Calc classes, and most ppl I know who are Engineering majors seem to agree. But then there are one or two ppl who think content in 1B is easy and think that 53 is difficult. Personally, I thought that the material covered in 53 was easier to understand than that in 1B. Take a look at a Calculus book (Stewart for eg.), and 53 will cover parametric equations, double and triple integrals, Green's theorem, Stoke's theorem, etc. That's all I remember of that summer class. 1B will cover stuff like Fourier analysis, power series, integrals (integrating by parts, and partial fractions, etc), and so on. If you go on to more math courses and Physics 7ABC then you should know the stuff in 1B. Get a Calculus book (one that covers 1A,1B, and 53) and see what you know and what you don't, and you should know which course to take. Good luck!

I personally had no idea what the heck the infinite series were talking about , and I find the materials in 53 way easier to understand.

isn't 1b a pre-req sorta class, don't you need the knowledge from 1b as a foundation for classes later? would it really be advisable to skip1b and start with 53 or would this affect us negatively later on? could those who have already done both 1b and 53 comment please? thanks!
