Should I take Math 2 SAT (specific reason for question)?

1st SAT: M 720 W: 800 CR: 690 (2210)
2nd SAT: M 660 W: 800 CR: 800 (2260)
Superscore: 2320
Subject Tests: Literature - 760 US History - 780
Now to my question.... Should I take Math 2 SAT, even if I'm not majoring in anything to do with mathematics (I'm going to major in something within the humanities spectrum)?

I'm applying to some Ivy's which is why I was thinking about taking the math sat to make up for my 660. Is it worth it or a waste of time and effort, since I already have taken 2 sat subject tests?

I would take it because some schools want to see a humanities and a science, regardless of what you want to major in.

You don’t have to make up for the 660 if they superscore. 720 in the SAT Math section is fine for non-math non-engineering majors.

The Math 2 SAT is notoriously unforgiving of even one wrong answer. I know only of one of my son’s crowd who got an 800 on the Math 2 SAT, and it was a perfect score, all answered and none wrong.

bump… also, as a sidenote, should i send in both SAT’s or just the second one i got a 2260 on? will the first 690 in CR affect the way colleges look at my 800 on the second test (essentially will that 690 bring me down?)

@rhandco I think you mean the Math 1 Subject Test is a difficult curve, Math lvl 2 allows for 5-6 wrong to still get an 800.

Yeah, I agree, the Math 2 has a decent curve. Math 1, however, doesn’t.

I agree. Math 2 better curve. I would send both SAT scores. Take the 3rd test and see how you do before sending it in.

@rhandco Around 15% of Math2 taker got 800. It is among the easiest SAT2 in terms of getting full score.
