Freshman year, I took Bio Honors. Sophomore year, I took Chem honors. Then in junior year, as part of the IB program, I had the choice between IB Chem, IB Bio, or IB Environmental Systems and Societes for a science. I opted for chemistry, took the SL exam last May; my science requirements for graduation are good to go.

Now, so I'm not lacking a science my senior year, I've been planning to take AP Computer Science on Florida Virtual School because it's not offered at my school, and it's a subject I'm legitimately interested in. But, taking a look at what coursework schools recommend, I see a good number of schools recommend 3-4 years of science including Chem, Bio, and Physics.

I certainly don't plan on any math or engineering majors (I'm thinking humanities or arts), so I'm wondering if schools will consider it to be so imperative. So, should I continue with my plans as is, or should I take Physics for the sake of fulfilling recommended coursework?

This is in the wrong forum but I’ll answer anyway.
If physics is offered at your school, take it. The reason to self study/take an online course for an AP is too show you are really interested in the subject. You obviously are, but since you won’t be comp sci major, it won’t really help because:
you probably won’t get out of any credit requirements in college because compsci courses are hardly required.
the only reason to take an AP course outside of school senior year is to get out of courses.
you could also self a humanities/social science/foreign language this year instead. I think that would help in admissions as long as you put in your resume “self studying AP U.S. History this year” (just saying us history since supposedly its the easiest history ap)

On the other hand, if you MIGHT become a comp sci major in college, even if there is a small chance, go for it! if you are legitimately interested, it won’t be a burden in APril.
Also, i think it will look bad if you don’t take any science courses senior year.
What other classes are you taking?

(Dang it. I really wasn’t sure where to put this, so I went on the basis of wondering what adcoms would make of my science courses…)

Well, first off, you can’t take AP Physics at my school without having taken Physics Honors (which I haven’t), so AP Physics is definitely out of the question. So I was considering Physics Honors online, just so I could do the course at my own pace and possibly finish in less time so I could get it over with.

Couldn’t I get elective credit for AP CompSci, even if I’m not a CompSci major? And, anyway, I’ve already taken AP US Government and AP Macro (that one’s in progress, actually) online because my school didn’t offer them. I was thinking about taking AP CompSci because I was worried about not having a science. I’d rather take CompSci than Physics (and I have a legitimate interest in CompSci), and the course is through virtual school only. Plus, I can take it as an AP and not as honors, which I figured would be better in terms of course rigor anyhow…

I’m also taking IB Calc (might take the AP AB exam but I’m not sure yet), IB English, IB History of the Americas, Theory of Knowledge (required philosophy class for IB), IB Psychology, and AP Macroeconomics online (and I’ll probably take Micro once I’m finished with it, which should be soon at the pace I’m going).

yeah i guess doing comp sci virtually is good. i would recommend comp sci than physics online. physical sciences really need labs to succeed. Go for AP Compsci! just make sure to put it on your app/resume somewhere (preferably lots of places so adcoms can’t miss it :D)
