I am an international student. I have never studied US History (it’s not even offered where I live) but I have been studying History (mostly focused on my country’s though) for 5+ years. I took a WH practice test and did well on it, with no prep. I have little to zero knowledge of US History. Considering that I am also studying for the SAT IIs in Math 2 and Physics, should I take both (which would require a LOT of work, since I need to study US History from scratch) or just World History? Is it worth taking both?
Well if you are majoring in social sciences or somewhere along the context of history then you should take both. The only reason why I don’t recommend you taking US History because it is really extensive (well not as much as World History is, you get what I mean) and you should have the knowledge from AP USH or some type of USH class in order to do well. I say that go for World History since you have done great w/out prep and with more prepping you’ll be golden. May I ask are you taking this in conjunction with AP World History or Honors Math/Physics? Because the great time when you should take this is around May-June, where you are done with most of the course.
No APs or Honors are offered in my country. Classes are the same for everyone. I am (re)taking the SAT in Oct, the SAT IIs in math and physics in November and WH and maybe USH is Dec. The RD deadline is Jan. 1 and these are the only dates I have. WH is offered only on Dec 5. From next week until late Dec I will just have the regular classes and schoolwork (along with test prep, essays, supplements and everything). I’m undecided between business, political science and international relations/global affairs. Would math 2, physics and WH be enough? (With 750+ on each of them) Or should I take one more? (USH, which would require a LOT of work: I could use that time to write better essays/supplements)
I say drop USH because it’s not going to benefit in what you want/going to major. I’ve been told that three Sat IIs are enough for colleges to looks at.
Okay! Thanks!
