Should I take SAT and ACT?

So it's my junior year, and I've already taken the SAT once, and I'm taking it again in March. I got a 2090 the first time (780 M, 570 CR and 740 W) and I hope I can pull that CR up. It's mostly the sentence completions that get me. I don't know if it's always been like this, but up until this year, I thought pretty much only a few kids take the ACT, but every person I talk to, it seems, is taking both. Is there a benefit to taking both? Also I heard that there are no sentence completions for ACT, is that true?

We live in NY, primarily an SAT area.

Older son took SAT… did very well but needed a retake. Heard about the ACT from a friend of mine. Son took it without any further studying and did great on all sections. Felt it is easier. Sadly, those days, you had to send SAT scores with SAT subject test scores. Sent all with ACT scores as well.

Son number 2- sent ACT scores only and was accepted to 15 of 15 schools. Obviously, no one cared that he did not have an SAT score. Makes sense as kids applying from many other states only take the ACT and don’t have an SAT score to send.

You have nothing to lose. You will likely do very well on the ACT, however, if you don’t like your scores, just don’t send them to any schools!!
