So, here’s the deal: I’m a senior in high school. I’m definitely taking the AP Calculus AB and AP Psychology tests, but I’m not sure whether I want to take the AP Chemistry exam (and if I don’t, I may take the AP U.S. Government test since I’ll have some more studying time open).
Basically, I’m lost in AP chem. I rarely understand what we’re doing in class, except for the very basic concepts. I manage to pass my tests (only with the help of the curve) because I’m decent at the FRQ’s, but for some reason, I’m horrible at multiple choice in this class, which I’m usually good at in others. Honors physics last year was a breeze, and science is usually my strongest subject, but I have a lot of trouble learning in the class (partially because of my teacher’s teaching style, but I won’t try and pin this all on her).
I’m looking to major in computer science in college, so I don’t necessarily need the AP credit from the chem test. I’m fairly sure I won’t pass, but I have thought that in the past and still passed AP exams. That being said, I’d just like to know if it would make any sense at all to take the test if I honestly don’t think I’ll pass.
I realize AP exams can save a lot of money, but it won’t save anything if I fail… And I’ve heard that the AP chem exam is crazy difficult. Thanks for reading, sorry it was a bit long.
