I've made A+'s on test all year in calculus and i'm pretty sure I've made a 5 on the test. From past experiences, have any of yall had a hard time adjusting from highschool AP Calculs AB to Calculus 2 at Tech? I'm willing to research and teach myself topics this summer that will help me adjust.

It’s not an easy adjustment for anyone, but it’s certainly doable. I was a teaching assistant for Calculus II last semester, and I don’t think any of the material the professor required prior knowledge beyond the AB curriculum.

I only retook it for an easy A. I did take the history credit however.

It nearly killed me. I had a 5 on AP Calc AB and BC (and a 7 on IB Math HL) and still had a lot of difficulty adjusting. For me, the biggest problem was going from a situation where I didn’t have to study and just “got it” in High School to a situation where I had to study all the time. Basically, I had to teach myself how to study.

In hindsight, it would have been easier to start with Calc I to ease into college, but the immediate shock of failing the first Calc II exam really whipped me into shape and forced a radical change in my behavior.

I had the chance to skip into Calc III with the BC credit, but I chose not to do it. Calc III is an easier class than Calc II, and most people will tell you to skip Calc II because it’s a GPA killer, but I didn’t get any Linear Algebra in my BC course and I use that material daily now.
