Should I take the current SAT once or twice?

Hi everyone! So I am a current junior and I registered for the December SAT, the thing is I have totally procrastinated and haven’t done any prep at all (only one practice test) and was wondering if it would be best to change my date to the January session. However, the only downside to this would be having only one opportunity to take the current SAT before the new one. I’m shooting for a 2000+ and I doubt I’ll accomplish prepping for that in a weekend.

So do you think it would be better to take the SAT twice (once with no prep followed by another with prep and scores from the previous one) or take it once in January with extensive prep?

If you dont mind spending the money, I would absolutely take it in December even with minimal prep. Its the type of test that you will do better on the more you take it. So I would take it in December and January and again… Third time is the charm.

Twice definitely. You’d get to superscore, and you’d also know what you’re weak at. The first time is not (normally) your best try.

Another vote for twice! I would still take the December SAT even though you haven’t done a lot of prep because you can get a ballpark estimate of your SAT score range. From there, you can see the sections you really need to focus on when preparing for your next SAT. A lot of people (myself included) do better on the second SAT than the first one because it’s easier to know what to expect.
