I am taking the SAT in march and essay is apparently optional for the new SAT. I have a hard time writing an essay in a limited time because English is not my first language. I am expecting to get a 2 or 3 on the essay, which is out of 4, if i do take it and am aiming for top 30 universities in the nation. I know that those skls probably do want to see their applicants’ essay score although many of them say that it is not required. Should I take it in march anyway even if i know i wont get a great score? or should I wait until June, when I will be taking it again, to take the essay portion? because I am pretty sure I can do better if i prepare for it longer. Lastly, if a school does superscore will it also superscore the essay?
For sure, yes. The new SAT essay is longer and more like an AP Lang essay, so if you perform well in a honors English class you should be fine writing the essay. The essay is included in the writing score (to my belief). Top colleges also “strongly recommend” the optional writing section or outright require it.
