Should I take the new SAT?

I’m not completely satisfied with my SAT score (2030), but I plan on taking the ACT in June. However when I took the PSAT in October, I got a 1430/1520 (M: 740, CR: 690). Obviously that’s a much better score than my 2030. I guess my real question is how much do you guys think that the PSAT correlates to SAT performance? Especially with the new SAT, if someone took the PSAT and new SAT, can someone tell me how close the two tests were? I imagine the actual test is harder than the practice, but by how much?

A 1430 is theoretically about a 2140 which is much higher. The SAT is slightly harder than the PSAT but that is why they made the PSAT out of 1520. Because of this, I can’t imagine you getting anything less than 1430, especially if you put in more work practicing. I took the PSAT cold and got a 1240 but after using most of the resources available, I’m predicting my score to be around 1420 to 1480. So yes, I do recommend you taking it again, so long as you put in the extra work to get to where you want to be.

@1zogden1 Thanks, I guess I’ll take it if I don’t do so well on the ACT. What do you think is the equivalent score of my SAT score to the ACT?

@BreadCrumb your 2030 is most likely closest to a 30. However, it’s hard to tell your new PSAT/SAT equivalent is until CB makes a concordance table of the new and old SAT(which I heard was coming out today). Once you know your 2400 equivalent for the old SAT then you can go online with that score and find an ACT equivalent.
