I’ve taken the SAT 2 times and the ACT once. My scores are as follows:
1490 (770m 720e)
1460 (780m 720e)
33 (35e 35m 31r 31s)
I’m shooting for schools like Berkeley and UCLA for physics. Is it worth it for me to take the SAT again if only for an improvement of 30-40 points? Is there any disadvantages to taking the SAT again?
If it helps, my ecs are very mediocre, I may need to rely on academics to get in.
Any help appreciated, Thanks!
I don’t see why you think you’d need to retest.
Also, I’m assuming the 2nd SAT is a typo, because 780+720 is 1500?
Either way, for the 1490, your math and English are in the higher end or even much higher than the
range for Berkley and UCLA, along with your ACT.
As long as you took the SAT with essay, you’re fine to me. No need to waste time retaking, but it’s up to you and how much time you’ve got, and whether you’ve given ample attention to other areas of your app (like essays).
My bad, the second SAT is a typo (680e). Anyways, I was worried that physics would be impacted, so my score wouldn’t actually be very high. I agree that it would be a better use of my time to focus on my essays. Thanks for your input!
@Zamboni1 you’re welcome! Ah I see, well the SAT doesn’t really test physics all that much? So I don’t know how that would effect your admission applying as a physics major (I assume), unless you mean an SAT II test. Either way, best of luck on the rest of your admissions process!
