Should I take the SAT or ACT or Both?

(Sidenotes: I'm from a state where it is traditional to take the ACT, so there are classes available to me for the test. Also, I want to get the HELL out of my state. I will be applying to various "top" private schools such as USC, Emory, GWU, NYU, Ivy league, etc. In addition, I am going to extremely busy and would prefer to focus all my time and energy on one, but I am willing to do what needs to be done.)
Any thoughts/opinions are greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>Also, if you are to say ACT then should I focus my time NOW studying for that or the PSAT/NMSQT because I want to be a NMS (I need a 205 I think)</p>

<p>Both, but I would suggest taking them at least two months apart. Most schools accept both, but I feel like it’s best to have a backup in case you have trouble with a certain test’s format.</p>
