Should I take this accounting internship?

First of all, I'll be done with school in May 2015

I have a no skill job now that pays $20 an hour, and pays my bills. I live on my own, so I have rent, car insurance, phone, cable, etc.

Accounting firms recruit every September/October at campuses

This internship is for Jan - Apr at a large (regional) CPA firm. Internships at firms like this typically lead to a full time offer (once graduated) assuming you don't mess up.

If I do accept it, and get an offer for full time employment once graduated, I will have about a year of no job, so I would need to figure out how to pay my bills.

If I don't accept it, next September/October (2014) I will be at the point in my college career where I must apply for full-time positions, but I will not have any experience, and not likely get any job offers.

I don't know what to do :( I want to accept, but I don't want to be screwed and not have any way to pay rent.

Many of the top firms pay up to $25 per hour during the internships. Ask about the pay scale for the winter internship that you are being offered.

That’s basically what they pay, but I’m more concerned about the period of May 2014 - august 2015, how do I pay rent then?

Where do you work at now?

A retail company. They pay good

Why wouldn’t you be able to work May-August in 2015? Wouldn’t you be expecting a job offer from the accounting internship? If not, couldn’t you always get another retail job with your experience?
