I’m a US citizen living in Canada who is planning to apply to some US universities (a bit of a complicated situation haha). Considering that I’ve taken Canadian history, would americain universities prefer it if I also take US history? Right now, I’m trying to choose between economics and US history 
US universities will not care.
Correct. US college recommendations are generally targeted to the majority, in this case US HS students. There is no expectation that a student outside of the US has US History, although there will still be the expectation that the applicant will have a solid background is history/social sciences.
