I’m currently a sophomore at my current college. I transferred from community college to the liberal arts college I’m at right now with thirty-seven credits and a 3.5 GPA. I would also mention I’m a member of the Phi Theta Kappa. Anyways, now that I’m here I start over GPA wise and the 3.5 doesn’t carry over. To my question. I don’t like the liberal arts college I’m at now. It’s too small, not very rigorous like I would like it to be, not many research options or at least not encouraged, lacking clubs that are associated with my major or that I like, and it’s in a small town and I just don’t like it. I’ve been at it more a little over a month now and I’m so bored. A lot of the kids here are athletes and people who aren’t totally intellectually bookwormish like me. We have a little over one thousand students. I just don’t like and would like to go somewhere bigger, more rigorous, and a place that has a lot more options.
Yes, you certainly could transfer again. Howver, you need to carefully examine your previous transfer application process. What did you think you would like about this place? Did you apply anywhere else? Were any of your other options affordable? How did you come to choose this one over the others? Until you can see what went right and what went wrong last time, you run the chance of making a poor decision again.
Chances are that you are too late to withdraw without creating a transcript and owing a lot of money, so focus on getting really good grades this semester. You will want those good grades on your record when you apply for transfer to another place. If you are still unhappy at the end of the semester, take a leave of absence instead of ahelling out for a second semester of classes there.
One option could be to return to your CC and finish up your AA or AS degree. That is likely to make transfer easier especially if there is an articulation agreement for your major.
Thank you!
