Should I withdraw my application?

I finished everything before the deadline, and gave my teachers and principal their forms. My principal filled the form out and sent it before christmas; my teachers said they didn't finish theirs yet.

Anyway.. I was supposed to have my interview last Saturday, but I called and cancelled because I had to study for my A-levels. I had 2 biology, 2 mechanics and 1 math tests on Monday and Wednesday. So I really didn't have any time to spare. My interviewer sounded ****ed on the phone and said he was leaving for vacation on Thursday, so I basically missed my chance to get an interview, as he put it.

Also, yesterday I was at my school, and I asked the teachers I'd given the evaluation forms if they filled them out. My English Language teacher said he filled his out and was going to send it today, and my Mathematics teacher said he still didn't start working on his.

So, my recs missed the deadline and my interviewer doesn't like me.

Should I throw in the towel? I really don't see any hope left.

And why is p i s s censored? :p

go for it you have nothing to lose. call the interviewer back and tell him you really wanna do it (even if you think its a pain in the ass). sending your recs a few weeks late shouldn't be a problem, especially for an int'l

In my opinion, the most important thing is to Never Reject Yourself. If Princeton is not going to take you, then fine. But when you've done your bit, sent in your application, checked up on teachers and deadlines, and made all the effort - why reject yourself by withdrawing. You can't win the lotto without the ticket, and you can't get in without an application.

Your situation isn't the best, but it's far from the worst. Without knowing much about you, I still would say you stand a chance!. You may feel stressed and frustrated today, but tomorrow you may always wonder if you could've gotten in, had you not withdrawn. Besides, it takes more effort to call and explain your withdrawal, than it does to simply chase after your math teacher. Get that recommendation in! They may not have read your application yet, so there's still time. And hope.
Good Luck!

The late rec thing is not a problem at all. They don't start reading until later anyway. I would have handled the interview thing differently (it only takes an hour to interview) but since your interview doesn't even matter that much, don't worry about it.

The hardest part was your part, and since you labored through all those essays, why not send it? What do you have to lose?

I don't think you should withdraw, either, but how irresponsible could your recommenders be?

oh you have no idea. teachers in schools outside of the US are not used to be writing recs for their students.

My son cancelled his interview with Yale. He scheduled it right on top of a previous commitment that could not be missed---he was going to be out of town auditioning, and I had already booked the flight, hotel, etc. He could not schedule anything when he cancelled because he had one foot out the door, no calendar handy, and he had no idea when he was free. He said the person did not sound pleased. I felt badly because he tends to interview well, and it would have been a strong point for him. He had no time to reschedule, and he was accepted early, so it could not have counted for a whole lot. He did not even visit the campus. Too busy with school, sports and auditions. He was overbooked as it was.

...u already paid the fee, might as well see if u get in or not...no use throwing in the towel...buck up, buddy :)

u might call and ask Princeton if they have another interviewer for you near your area...

Here is a prime example of what some kid did. This is about a kid I know who did everything wrong.

Gave his recommendation sheets only 2 weeks in advance, the GC one only 4 days.

Turned in Recommendations about a week late.

Forgot that financial Aid was due on the same day (for ED), and missed that by 30 days.

Sent in application on the date, more specifically, about 45 minutes the time it was due.

Forgot to rush scores on the day, so did it like 4 days later.

This kid got in.

Guess who it was? it was moi... hahahahahahahaha. im stupid.

in conclusion, don't worry. send it in late, email the adcoms about why it is late, and sit back and wait for their decision. no problem at all.

hahahaha naughty boy hobbes

Hahaha. I remember when you forgot the financial aid stuff hobbes. You went absolutely nuts.

:)
It all worked out in the end huh?

hobbes' revelation should put everyone at ease now...:)

Thanks for all your comments! :)

My math teacher is still working on his rec, but my English teacher sent his. I'm also just about to e-mail Princeton and ask for another interviewer, if it's possible.

hey i still havent sent my reccomendations... (bloody teachers on annual leave)...
they come back tomorrow tho =)
and i hear interviews don't matter much, best of luck!
