So for UCLA I have to write a personal statement, the prompt is:

Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud, and how does it relate to the person you are?

I was going to write about my personal quality of being insanely optimist, however in order to write why I am so optimistic I have to say how I battled depression for 2 years and became suicidal and even attempted suicide. Is it a good idea to write about this? I was going to tell my experience with depression and how I managed to escape it and how now I have a very positive outlook on the world because of what I have been through. I know for your essays your suppose to "stand out" but is this too much. Let me know what you think
