Should I?

I have started applying to Questbridge’s College Prep Scholars program. However, I’m not sure if it is worth applying in my position. My family makes about $60,000 with my Dad’s business and it will grow. I have worked for about a year and a half to buy running shoes etc and my car plus pay for gas and insurance so that I can drive myself and my brother to practices and things and not my parents. We haven’t gone through too much serious hardship and I really feel like I wouldn’t compare to many applying to Questbridge. We did live in Central Asia and missionaries from 2009-2013 and moved here (US) for high-school. Basically, the only money I really need from the program is to visit colleges. Without it, I’d be hard pressed to visit more than two or three. FA should cover the rest at the kinds of schools I quality for unless my Dad’s company fluctuates too much. I have a 35 ACT, good AP scores, and am taking 4 APs this year, etc.

Basically, in light of my only minor hardships, is it really worth giving the Questbridge application a shot? I’ve got a lot that I could be working on other than this and would rather not waste my time if I have a bad chance of getting in. (Please no sugar coating or anything, if I don’t have decent shot just tell me)

Questbridge is an amazing opportunity. If your household income falls within the range, I would try out the program, especially with your test scores.

I did not have major hardships and I was selected as a finalist. I think it might be because of my scores and high school academics (I also have a 35 ACT).

My portfolio is lesser than yours, and I was matched during the initial round. I think the primary criterion for matching to most schools is essay composition. If you’re willing to forfeit any free time you may have over the next summer, do it.
