Should my D apply REA as a test optional applicant

She is in the top 1% of her graduating class and has a decent resume. Letters of Rec should be very good and her sibling is attending. But she hasnt taken an SAT. She will this week. But of course we have no idea what the score will be. So should she apply now as test optional, and if the scores are good enough then submit the scores? Or should we wait for the scores, if they arent good then go test optional -REA or should be then go test optional RD?

The REA deadline for ND isn’t until November 1, right? So, I’d just wait to decide until she gets her test scores back.

I know that but I just wanted to get an opinion so that I have a game plan. So does anyone have any thoughts?

What @Illinoisparent12 just said is the game plan. If you say it’s coming and it’s bad, you are screwed. If you say it’s not coming and it’s good you are at a disadvantage.

Once you decide that’s it - except for a ten day grace period. So wait til you have a score - assuming it’s b4 Nov 1.

Patience is your game plan here.

What’s the rush? Wait for the score and then submit a complete application. Getting it in early won’t make a difference (as long as it’s before the ED deadline).

Start working on the essays and other parts of the application and decide on the test later. It has become more competitive for women to be admitted in the last few yrs, so keep that in mind and start discussing early, in case she doesn’t get accepted.

Good luck to her.

There are no bonus points for applying super early. Everyone who submits by Nov 1 will be treated the same. Once you submit the app you’re locked in.

Wait for the scores as everyone above said.

Then wait! ND does not have rolling admissions. Why the rush?
