Should quadruplet brothers apply to the same prestigious universities?

Yes, @NikkuWadde I think it is worth it

@NikkuWadde I absolutely hate loans and never recommend them for my students except in exceptional circumstances. I think your situation qualifies as my “exceptional circumstances” and therefore I would not hesitate to tell you that loans in your situation are okay for Gtown. The national average for students loans over a four-year period is $27K and what you expect to borrow to attend Gtown hits that mark. With Gtown’s SFS the leading school for what you want to study, I think this is one time when it is okay to have loans as long as you keep it in line with the national average. Plus you can try to see if you can reduce those loans in the future through summer earnings or research grants. Check with Gtown how they would treat any award of private scholarships since sometimes they reduce aid, but other times colleges will reduce self-help (e.g. loans). I don’t know of any off the top of my head but I believe there are some loan forgiveness programs that could be available to you. To answer your qeustion, yes I think for Gtown in SFS with a student with Arabic, it is worth the $27K in loans over four years.

@NikkuWadde You’re definitely going to get into Princeton. I’d say >90% chances based on your application.

Okay, that’s what I was thinking. Georgetown SFS truly is an amazing opportunity-- but obviously money is very important. But in the end, I think education and career prospects outweigh the debt. Plus I hope to work extremely hard in order to get into their 5 year masters program for International Security.

@college61728 The chances for anyone at Princeton are astronomically low so I’m certainly not confident about my chances of admittance. And even if I do get in, I might turn it down for Georgetown because GU has been my dream ever since I started this whole process. Is Princeton a slightly more impressive name? Yes. Am I crazy for choosing GU over it? Perhaps lol.

If I get more money at Princeton though… it’s a different story.

I just want to know what’s in the water at your house;-)

this thread was bumped again <3
i love it so much happiness and positivity

3 of us were admitted to WashU! (One didn’t apply).

Also, thanks for all the positivity on this thread. This is a stressful time of year for seniors (even after getting in to college because now you have to make choices). We feel blessed to even have such wonderful opportunities and hopefully even more will come!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you on Princeton! I know you’re currently leaning toward Georgetown unless a Princeton acceptance comes through with more money. Then, making a final decision becomes even more difficult. You may even be hoping you don’t get in at this point (ha!) but as problems go, that’s about the best one I can think of to have.

@1Dreamer I oscillate between wanting to get in and not wanting to. But deep down I’m pretty see I want to get in, and I would probably go if the aid is better than Georgetown. Even though GU is where my heart is, you truly can’t go wrong with either, and I’ll be at a great place regardless.

@NikkuWadde , in the interest of fair and balanced reporting, let us know if you guys DON’T get in anywhere:-)

@Lindagaf , the way things are going, he’d have nothing to report, and I like hearing from him. I’m going to be a little sad when this is all over. I’m sure I’m not the only one who hopes he comes back and updates everyone from time to time on how they are all doing wherever they land.

I predict they run the table.

They have so many wonderful choices that it doesn’t matter where they don’t get in. Keep the good news coming!

@NikkuWadde do you mind listing all the current options for all 4 of you and who is still waiting on what? I almost want to create my own spreadsheet to keep track!

Lol so no one has gotten rejected from anywhere yet.

We all got into: Vandy, Duke, OSU, WashU (one didn’t apply), Umich

All still waiting on: Stanford, Harvard, Yale

Me: I’ve gotten into GU and UChicago,
Waiting on Princeton and Johns Hopkins

Neuroscience Bro: Waiting on: JHU, Brown

Computer and Cognitive Scinece bro: Waiting on: UC Berkley, Brown

The Engineer bro: didn’t really apply to any other schools besides those we all applied to

Amazing. Congratulations.
Are you all close?

Neuroscinece bro and I were admitted to Johns Hopkins! I won a Woodrow Wilson Research Fellowship there so I get $10,000 per year to do international research! If I go, I might do work with racism in the Middle East.

I think the EFC was pretty high ($20-$30k?), so since Princeton gives only need based aid I don’t know how it could be less expensive than Gtown with only having to take direct student loans.

@GnocchiB: Hi, CompSci/CogSci brother here! In addition to the schools my brother listed above (he didn’t bother to check with me haha), I’m also still waiting on:
-Carnegie Mellon University
-Cornell University
-Northwestern University
-Tulane University
-University of Pennsylvania

Oh and I forgot to add that I’m also still waiting on Brown and Upenn.

My reporting skills leave a bit to be desired
