My D is looking to apply to schools like Columbia & Duke. Her ACT score is 34 (9 writing). She has a 3.92 average with entirely AP courses. Her SAT subject tests (which are not required if the ACT is being sent in) were 720 for both bio and lit. Are these scores worth sending in? Both schools do "welcome" having SAT subject test sent in. With 720s, would this help or hurt her application?

SAT percentiles: http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/research/SAT-Subject-Tests-Percentile-Ranks-2012.pdf

a 720 in Lit is 85th percentile, and in bio it’s either 80 or 70 depending on exam. I think the Lit score is pretty great since it’s such a tough exam. The science scores are fine but not as impressive. They definitely won’t hurt the application so I’d recommend you send both.

Her SAT 2 scores are a bit low. Her ACT’s are iffy, but she probably falls within range. I wouldn’t worry too much and send the scores in.
Send the scores, colleges want to see that people have taken them as an extra step. Most people do not take them unless they are required (since some schools require specific ones for special programs). I think it will help and not hurt. Best of luck!
They are good scores, they will only help, they will not hurt, send them in
Anything above a 700 is OK to send. They do not make any decisons based on percentiles for subject tests as suggested above (if they did eveyone submitting an 800 math 2, often only the 80th percentile, would be denied admission). They are looking for degree of subject mastery which is shown by score not percentile and anything above 700 shows mastery. Even if sending the scores may not help that much,it definitely will not hurt.
