Should schools have more "practical" courses

<p>There is a difference between vo-tech courses that provide career preparation and other courses that provide practical everyday life skills. The former should be available in some way but not required. I think we need more of the latter.</p>

<p>High school graduates should be able to: balance their budget (personal finance), use common household tools, drive a car, cook nutritionally-balanced meals, etc. These skills aren’t necessarily practical in the sense that they lead to a job, but they are important for living.</p>
