Should she even take the SAT?

Use the weighted capped version of GPA for comparison to GPAs on UC web sites, unless otherwise stated.

Hmmm. If she wants a four year college experienceā€¦which is much more than classā€¦going to UCR, a great school would be a slam dunk over two years at a jc and then UCSB.

Again lots of great schools outside too where youā€™d go for less $$ than UCsā€¦.u of Az is one of many schools. Thereā€™s also many private schools where your daughter would do well.

Sounds like UCSB is the target and thereā€™s a good chance. But thereā€™s outstanding reaches with big merit (W&L), matches and safeties (SMU also has a free ride) with huge aid and great rep!! UCR is very solid as well.

You daughter deserves four years!! It neednā€™t be UCSB or bust.

I know that if your school does not have many APā€™s, then that is definitely considered and gpa is considered differently.

Every student will be reviewed in the context of what is offered at their HS so a few APā€™s, no APā€™s etcā€¦ are taken into consideration. If students from the HS are getting in Ivy League schools, then the HS curriculum will be considered rigorous regardless of the # of AP/IB courses taken/offered.
