Showing the love to your safety school

That's great Scout! Funny how so many of the things we worry most about don't seem to happen. I did learn a lot from your thread though so thanks!

Wonderful news! I wish I could have found a way to avoid all the anxiety of this season. I do think people end up where they need to be, but did that help me relax?

My s loves his safety too. So far it is the only school he has applied to! He is working on 3 (possibly 4) other pplications, but at least one is complete.

Because of merit aid issues, our DS applied to only "safety" colleges and through much research found 5 that he would have loved to attend. He was not thrilled with our flagship U but that was his financial safety. Among the "safety" colleges were Rensselaer, Case, Oberlin, and Allegheny.

His entire college admissions process was easy, stress free, and quite enjoyable because he did not get himself caught up in the admissions frenzy too often written about. And furthermore he was able to enjoy his hs time too by taking a reasonable course load free of AP classes in which he was not enthusiastic about. While he got 700 on his SAT verbal, he never took an AP or honors course in English or literature and conterary to popular opinion, learned to write quite well.

In short, he was a normal kid who had a very typical child hood and entered college rarin' to go. Four years later he has done extraordinarily well at a highly regarded college and to the surprise of us is beginning to fill out grad school application.
