Sibling Degrees?

I'm filling out the Sibling part of the Family section on the Common App and it ask about degree or expected degree for siblings. I have an older brother enrolled in college working towards a bachelors and a younger sister in 9th grade who we expect will graduate from high school. Is this question asking about a degree goal or current program enrolled in? Confusing!

They mean a degree program that your sibling is currently enrolled in.

So for my younger sister, a freshman, I should put down High School as expected degree? Thank you!

For your sister, list her name and then complete only the blank that says “Age & Grade.” Leave the spaces for “College Attended,” “CEEB,” “Degree earned or expected” and “Dates” blank.

For your brother, list his name and age (but not grade), and complete the items for “College Attended,” “CEEB,” “Degree earned or expected” and “Dates.”

Thank you for your help!

That word “expect” is confusing. Our son expects to complete a BS but he is in high school. If you put high school as the “expected degree” to me that says he isn’t thinking about college, but he is. So do we put he expects to get a BS on DD’s app? (We have twins so same goes either way). We have it with just grade level listed and nothing in the 'expected degree" blank.

Honestly, I’m puzzled by all the puzzlement.

The instructions say pretty clearly to complete siblings’ college information “*f they have attended or are currently attending college.” Since that condition hasn’t been met for siblings in high school, you don’t put anything about the degrees they plan to earn.

I guess where my puzzlement comes is from having twins and both of them being in college at the same time.

Right, but unless one of them takes time off, neither of them will be in college yet when his or her sibling is completing the application. Each of them will be 17 (or whatever) and in the 12th grade.
