LogicWarrior hates capitalism.

I do? 10char

CLEARLY you do.

haha some of you guys seriously believe in global warming? Um ok…you realize that new glaciers are forming, right? So the penguins won’t even die, it was all made up by Al Gore so he could be famous. Some of you guys will believe anything the “scientists” or your liberal professors tell you like evolution even when it directly contradicts the word of God. So think about that next time you’re driving around in your almighty Prius’s, ok? it’s a myth liberals started to get into power and you’re letting them win by buying into it. tell that to your professor next time she opens her fat stupid mouth.

Ever? Awesome.

^^ ummmm… was that god thing a joke?

“Some of you guys will believe anything the “scientists” or your liberal professors tell you like evolution even when it directly contradicts the word of God.”

LOL. Oh God (no pun intended) I see a huge argument coming.

“Yes polution is a problem. Carbon Dioxide is not a polution. We breathe out CO2 everyday. The earth releases more CO2 through volcanoes and crap than humans ever have.”

Again, if you are not a climate scientist, don’t bother trying to make a case for or against global warming. Climate is a very, very complex system. Here, you should know that in a state of equilibrium (equal amounts coming in and out of CO2), the “small” amounts of CO2 that humans put out make a large difference in terms on net CO2 in the atmosphere.

Say you are in an equilibrium with money- you make 100k a year and spend that much too. And then you get a raise and make 110k a year instead. If you are spending the same amount, the net outcome is that your money goes up 10k a year- not trivial.

If you think of (or parrot) another argument, go here: RealClimate

and make sure it hasn’t been answered yet. That website is, by the way, run by actual climate scientists, not politicians.

I can’t tell too well, but I think (hope) this is sarcasm.

There is about as much proof for god as there is for the invisible spider on my head. If we accept the notion of a divine being with the evidence put forward today, our standard for what is real would be awful.

If you put the scientific method on God, it fails in both areas:

It is logically inconsistent (all powerful, all knowing)…

And there is nothing of God to observe and test.

And if you believe in God, you probably wear whitey-tighties…

that is all.

great ronpaul now this thread is going to turn into a cesspool of garbage

btw existence of god is not a scientific hypothesis - not falsifiable empirically

I predicted it.

I thought RonPaul was a conservative. Interesting.

Just fiscally, not socially…

And I apoligize, but it’s a sacrifice for the truth!

It’ll be fun once oil production begins to decline.

flipper…you are just an idiot. i bet you call nancy pelosi a right wing lunatic bible loving christian

Flipper’s right, the kind of people who are like the professor in the original post are usually libertarian or anarchist extremists, not liberal.

I’m ignoring whatever current vein of discussion this thread is on to point out that the OP was in a sociology class.
Basically, sociology is the study of culture: how it reflects society and how it alters society. Because we exist in society it makes analyzing it reveal uncomfortable truths about how our culture manipulates us. So, “how our government is disgusting and horrible, the media lies to us, how our government wants us to use drugs” is really just All In A Day for a sociologist. Inequality is a tenement of society.

(While your use of loaded words “disgusting and horrible” leaves me somewhat open to debate…was it her saying, flat out “the government is disgusting and horrible”, you reacting to the implications of sociological research [that society, and government, is manipulative, uncouth, and involved in various unsavoury acts], or you obstinately disagreeing with the research that pins the government as being “disgusting and horrible”? The first is heavy-handed, the second: takes some getting used to, and the third might be a touch delusional depending on the subject.)

All in all she did behave inappropriately. I don’t think professors should alter grades based on whether they support that side of the debate or not. If your defence is logical and appropriate, it shouldn’t be penalized.

Hehe, my economics professor (got Ph.D.'s in mathematics and economics from University of Chicago) would always use Regan’s economic policies as his examples in class and in every example it would be Regan messing up our economy.
