how good does it look to have done a siemens westinghousw project?

mad good 10char

in my senior year (im only a soph) im looking to be in the siemens-- im already into a project and research and hope to continue it--

Completion-- not that impressive.

If you make it to nationals -- impressive!

i remember some MIT admissions rep saying that siemens semifinalist is a major advantage in admissions. i imagine penn is the same.

Looks very good. Winning any of the top science comp. (Seimens, Intel STS, ISEF, JSHS) awards is a big deal.

Case in point: I was rejected ED to Penn (granted my school has terrible relationships with this school). Second semester I ended up being a semifinalist for Intel STS, 1 in 4 for social science in NYC feeder for ISEF, 2nd place in NYC JSHS regionals and national JSHS. The schools I sent this information to accepted me (likely + full ride scholarship finalist to Duke, Brown, Cornell) while the school I did not update, Columbia, waitlisted me.

These competitions can have a major impact on your application.
