Hello. I'm currently a regional finalist for the siemens competition, and I have a question on the necessary poster presentation. Do we make the posterboards here at home and then bring them right to the competition, or just bring the components and then assemble it there. The wording on the website is quite confusing. Can someone familiar with the competition help me out? Thanks so much. :)

You make the components at home (or print out the large poster sheets if you go that route). You will put Velcro on the backs of each sheet and attach them to a very nice Velcro-friendly presentation board when you are there.

Proviso: this is what they did four years ago at the RF my S attended.

If you post the link I can figure out if it’s the same procedure.

I see. What you said makes sense with the above link.
Thanks so much, CountingDown!

Looks like the same kind of board they used when S competed. While they say that noone is judging you during the public presentation, you are certainly being watched. It’s a free-wheeling Q&A with whoever’s wandering by your display – ranging from local kids to professors and industry folks. S spent the entire time on his toes answering questions and discussing his work. He loved it, but he was exhausted afterwards!

Be sure to have a 30-second explanation of your projects and its real world applicability (a bit tougher to do if it’s theoretical, but find a way to make it relevant or at least vaguely understandable to the average person).

P.S. Don’t buy any Velcro. They’ll provide it for you.

And, for the love of all that’s holy, don’t wear sneakers, t-shirts or jeans. A suit is good, pressed khakis/shirt/tie, skirt of a decent length, no cleavage if you are a young woman.
