(sigh) No housing changes for ANYONE.

just got the e-mail. i am a little scared now.

dawdger: can you post that email please thanks.

i saw that too. :)

please post the email...I wanna see what it says

The same currently applies for Summer Housing -- no transfer/change requests are being granted by the Central Housing Office... The record-breaking incoming Class of 2010, along with the addition of Rieber Vista, Rieber Terrace and Hedrick Summit are going to make the residential hill more crowded than ever in UCLA history...

i thought they were build to alleviate the problem...go figure

"Dear Jimmy,

To meet UCLA Housing's guarantee of providing on-campus housing to all incoming freshmen and transfers who meet the application and Student Intent to Register deadlines, we have had to offer most of our prospective new residents some type of triple room accommodation, even though this may not be one of their first choices. However, this is the only option available for most of those students wishing to live in on-campus housing.

For the upcoming 2006-2007 school year, a higher number of first-year students were admitted and have chosen to enroll at UCLA. In addition, the number of current residents who return to on-campus housing continues to increase. This situation has resulted in an increased demand for on-campus housing for the upcoming academic year.

With this high demand, we will not be able to accommodate any change of assignment requests this summer. We are at full capacity and will not have the ability to make changes until the winter quarter.

Recent On-campus Housing resident satisfaction surveys indicate no statistical differences in self reported satisfaction levels with the campus living experience between students living in double or triple room accommodations. As in the past, UCLA Housing and the Office of Residential Life will continue to offer a wide array of programs and support services to assist students with their transition to UCLA.

In the event that you wish to cancel your contract, you will need to email the Housing Assignment Office at www.housing.ucla.edu/ask and all cancellation fees will be waived until July 14, 2006 at 5:00 pm.

We will update you through email with open transfer updates.

Sincerely,
Housing Services"

yeah I just got that too. This sucks. sigh... at least I'm stuck in a triple in a plaza, I guess that's better than a res hall.

oh, thanks. i got the triple in the res hall. go me.

They are. But at the same time they're closing down 1 res hall a year for renovations (if all were available, they probably would have excess rooms)

they cant move people around though?.. its not like our CAR was to change triple--> double.

there aren't any double rooms AVAILABLE because they are all filled. so people in triples obviously have to stay in triples. it's not like they are just being mean. anyways triples aren't that bad, even in the res halls (which are more social anyways, BIG PLUS)

I actually wanted to move from a plaza to res hall, but I guess that didn't work out either. I'm currently in a rieber vista triple.

was your post to answer my post, aquasocks?

i never had a problem with tripling, im wondering why they cant make one-person transfers

I wanted to go from a double to a single. However that that appearently won't be going down either.

Are we allowed to request roommates still?

Sooo... Today I get an email and appearently my change request was granted. That was unexpected considering I was turned down a few weeks ago...

However I was upgrading from a double to a single, so my guess is that is easier than going from a triple to a double.

They granted your request?!?!? They said they werne't going to do that!!! lol. Congrats. What year are you?

actually a friend of mine also got her request, she's a freshman and she moved from hedrick hall triple.. to a single somewhere yonder.

I'll be in a single in Summit. I'm hoping for the ninth floor since that is where the majority of my friends will be, however I'm just pleased to get a single.

Also since asked, I'm a senior.
