I got an invitation letter from the National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi , stating that I have been selected to become a member. I've never heard of this Society and I don't know how I got selected but the things they offer sounds good so should I join it? Has anyone ever heard of it? Also, How did I get selected because I just started college this semester and I don't even have a GPA?

Also, They have a charge of $85 dollars and the letter is signed by a professor at my school

Basically it’s primarily a money making venture. Little honor to pay $85 to join a club whose requirement is a 3.1 GPA. Here’s an assignment for you: find out how much the prof was paid to endorse this “club”.

It was kind of fishy because I don’t even have a GPA! If I don’t join this year will i still have the opportunity next year?

I’m sure they’d love to have your $85 now or later. But knowing how worthless the org is, why are you even asking this? A fool and his money are quickly separated.

Hello,
I understand you have reservations and misconceptions about Sigma Alpha Pi. I am the current president of the chapter at my University. You’re correct it is $85 to join, however that does not mean you can put it on your resume. Every member has to complete leadership and success training to become a fully inducted member. Each member gets a Success Networking Team (SNT), this is a group that works together to problem solve each others goals and adversities. To become an inducted member you have to attend 3 speaking engagements and attend 3 SNT meetings at a minimum. Our organization is like anything else in life you get out of it exactly what you put into it. No more and no less. Here is a list of benefits that come with that one time membership fee:

Well, it certainly took long enough for the shill to show up!

If its not PBK it doesn’t matter.

I have been a Member of the National Society of Leadership and Success for about a year now. My opinion for what it is worth. This organization like a lot of others has it pros and cons, but it can be rewarding, but it is based on what you put into it. As an older student I was able to work with some younger students and we were able to help each other work on goals and realize that we were not alone. At least at our school the focus over the last year was about helping students set goals, work with each other in achieving those goals and networking.

It has been good for me and several others here. I found it to be a good social network group that focused more on success and business related success.

Funny. We got an invitation for my daughter last week. She’s away at school. The invitation lists the director and chapter co-presidents who you’d think would know that she’s at school. She hasn’t mentioned getting an invitation in her school mail.

So I went to check it out on CC and found not one person supporting it that had other posts unrelated to the society. It’s smells like multilevel marketing. It’s a foul smell. It’s not pretty.

D joined another one of these honors societies last year, NSCS and her chapter has done nothing. I mean zero. At least NSCS is non-profit.

This one is for profit, and obviously does nothing either.

But unfortunately, since they sent the mail here with a deadline of today, I guess D will be unable to join.
Heh, heh, heh.
Oh Well. :-)
