OK, I understand that Ivies obsess over these stats, even with transfers.

But what about other schools? How would the ad coms at NYU feel if you are a month away from getting an AAS with honors, PTK, all that good stuff, but you're HS GPA is a 3.2? SAT = 1040? (My SAT 2's are better, but not terrific, all in the 600 range.) If a truly good school requires that information for the application, is it over for me or for anyone in a similar situation?

A lot of it depends on how long ago you graduated from high school and what you have done since then. For instance, I'm tranferring to Cornell this January as a sophmore. I only graduated highschool in 2003. That means that my SATs and highschool GPA played a fairly big role in my admisssions decision (luckily both of these were at least decent) since I only graduated a year and a half ago. However, for someone who has been out of school for say, five years, their SATs probably wouldnt matter that much at all.

Most colleges will always ask for hs transcripts for the application file. But mainly, if you have completed a year or more of college level work at another institution, your performance in those classes will be the bulk of what is reviewed for decision making.
