Silicon Valley Schools/Requirements

So I'm in high school and am debating whether I'd like a future in iBanking or whether I'd like to work for a startup of sorts. On one hand I love the enigma of the silicon valley offices and the concept of sitting with other people and creating ideas. But on the other hand the thought of wearing a suit and ruling New York appeals to me as well. I've done masses of research on iBanking already so no questions there. My questions pertain to the tech startups:

What does it take to land a job in the Valley? Which schools are considered "feeder" schools for tech/other startups? Do you have to major in computer science/other science or can you also get a position with an Econ/Business degree of sorts? Does anyone know what the starting salaries are like?

Thanks,
Shivie101

CS or relevant engineering major at a local university is likely the most easily recruited by small Silicon Valley tech companies (but note that many recruit mainly experienced people rather than new graduates). Those little companies may not have the resources or the need to recruit widely like big companies whose names everyone knows. Of course, such companies need people with business and other skills, but such skills are more common than CS or engineering, so there could be more competition there (though such applicants can also try for jobs in other industries).

Thanks for the laughs.

The immaturity of that statement reminds me of myself two years ago.
