silly SAT mistakes?

So, I took an SAT practice test. Almost all (say, all but 5 or so) were just silly mistakes--misread the question, entered the wrong number into calculations, stuff like that. And this kind of stuff brought down my score A LOT.

I am careful while taking the tests. I double check answers when I have time and I focus as best I can. I just... somehow totally miss stuff.

So how do I fix this problem? Has anyone else been like this? Specific tips would be good.

bump bump bump

Pay more attention? Slow down? When you double check, don't just "verify" that your work is right -- DO IT AGAIN.

You need to take the practice tests under strict time control. If your knowledge base is the same all you can do is manage your time better. Familiarity with the test will give you confidence and extra time to go over everything. The thing is how few you miss, not how many you get right. You need to understand that the people that set the curve don't miss any and could still get them all right if the test had more questions. Search in CC for the Ziggi Method. He was mentioned quite often last year.

Mm there's not much you can do about that but keep drilling yourself and be more careful, I suppose.

the difference between a 690 and a 700 was one question for me. the question was an easy question in the numbers and operations section....... epic fail.
