Hi I'm intersted in going to a school that is close to a city, if not in the city but still has a college campus. I would like the college campus to have old buildings and a big lawn, not like a city school where the campus tends to be scattered. Boston College, University of Chicago, University of Southern California and Georgetown all have exactly what I'm looking for but I don't think I will be able to get into there. I have a weighted average in the higher 90's, I am from New York, I have not taken the SAT's yet, I'm a junior, and I have tons of extra curricular activities.

You seem to be defining “city” as “big” and “college” as “nationally known.” I’d suggest Trinity College in Hartford, but I don’t think of Hartford as a team capable of supporting an NFL team. Tulane is a possibility, but Miami seems to be in the camp with Hartford.

Can you do any better suggesting size of city (population size, perhaps?), reputation of college, and distance of college from downtown city?

University of Puget Sound

Vanderbilt

If Boston College is a reach for the OP, Vanderbilt isn’t happening.

Pitt? American (nice campus, even if architecture isn’t as attractive)? Fordham? Lewis & Clark?

If female, Agnes Scott. Birmingham-Southern College, Tampa, Rollins, Richmond.

OP, how much can your family afford? Look at Lewis and Clark, and Reed in Portland OR

might check out Holy Cross and Trinity College. Holy Cross has beautiful campus and great school spirit.

Look at the Jesuit schools which tend to be in/near major cities and see if any match your academic profile and geographic preferences. My S had a great experience at Fordham. <a href=“Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities--Jesuit Colleges and Universities”>http://www.ajcunet.edu/institutions

You can also check into Tulane, Villanova, American, UMiami, URichmond. Emory and Vanderbilt would likely be reaches based on what you wrote above.
