Simmons College vs. BU CGS vs. Syracuse vs. UMass Amherst

I'm deciding between these 4 schools, I plan on going into the business field or psychology with a minor in film or maybe doing a double major with film. I appreciate any advice/input.

Simmons College- I received a full tuition scholarship and I don't have to dorm, so it's free, but if I do want to dorm, it's about $5,000 a year.
Boston University CGS- I only have to pay about $3,000 a year, but I'm not really sure about CGS.
Syracuse University- This is going to set me back about $15,000+ a year, I'm not sure if it's worth spending that much.
UMass Amherst- Have to pay about $10,000, again same situation as Syracuse.

Here is a nifty calculator from our friends at FinAid.org that will let you compare the numbers and some other variables that might be important to you: [FinAid | Calculators | Advanced Award Letter Comparison Tool](<a href=“Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid”>Your Guide for College Financial Aid - Finaid) You will need to run it more than once because it is only set up to compare three institutions at a time.

Most parents would advise that you choose a place where you will end up with no more than the equivalent of the maximum Stafford Loan debt. By that standard, Syracuse and UMass Amherst probably should drop off your list.

Wishing you all the best!

Try to look at BU without CGS as a major factor. Once you are in your major, CGS becomes a distant memory. It’s just a gateway to the school. My D is a junior at BU (not CGS student) and has told me that CGS is a great way to go to BU if admission to another department is not possible. CGS has no bearing on social life or campus activities - no one cares at all. And $3000 per year for BU is an incredible bargain, IMO.

ditto what elizabethh said…and to add; there are no restictions/GPA requirements out of CGS into any school at BU; you just have to finish the requirements…
