Simon's Rock -- another unconventional possibility

In ways it has lived up to my expectations and others not. I thought people would be more accepting. It is great academically but as usual you have to watch out for some teachers. I regret some decisions but i know it will be good for me. I entered at the age of 14 and i just turned 15 and for smart people they think too much about age and not your brain. Some do not take me that seriously but I am gonig to make dean's list so that does not matter.

I am sorry to hear about your difficulties with your age. I know most of the students entering are 16, and 14 is young but not the youngest they have accepted over the years. Simon's Rock was created to cater to young scholars so I am surprised they are not handling that better. Hopefully this will become less of an issue as the year progresses.

Congratulations on making the dean's list! I know how challenging the academics are at Simon's Rock, so that is a real accomplishment!

Fermenta, what relation do you have to Simon's Rock out of curiosity?

I am a parent of a student who graduated from SR a couple years ago and did quite well there. It was an interesting experience, and opened my eyes to the educational possibilities of early college, but also to the anxiety it can bring to families who break with tradition to move in this direction.

It can be a huge decision, and I empathize with other parents and students who take these nontraditional paths. But I think having these options are extremely valuable to our society, and I was mostly impressed with the quality of the education and the caliber of the students I encountered at Simon's Rock.

My youngest daughter is still in high school. Simon's Rock would not be a good option for her, so I'm looking on CC to see if there are some other ideas we haven't thought of yet. But for her sister, SR was an excellent choice and I remain interested in the school, the challenges its students and their parents face, and the reflection that goes into making the decision to attend.

Thats awesome.

Thanks Anonuccia. I truly appreciate that comment. But you are the awesome one. To get into SR at 14 is really impressive! Make the best of this great opportunity!

I will .THanks

Hello, does anyone know how good the swim team is? Do they compete with other college's? Ty

Yes it is, lol.
