Simon's Rock College of Bard?

I got a letter in the mail today from Simon's Rock College of Bard.

"Simon's Rock College of Bard is the nation's only college of the liberal arts and sciences designed expressly for students of high school age. Most students enter Simon's Rock after completing the 10th or 11th grade, and follow programs leading to the Associate in Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees in liberal arts.

At Simon's Rock, students pursue academic work among their peers, in an environment particularly sensitive to their developmental needs. The college's program challenges their intelligence, imagination, and self-discipline when their interests and needs have grown beyond the scope of their high schools' offerings." - From their website (<a href="http://www.simons-rock.edu%5B/url%5D">www.simons-rock.edu</a>)</p>

I'm really interested, but I'm not too sure if it'd be a good idea. I aspire to attend USC (California, not Carolina), NYU, or even UCLA, and I'm wondering how they would look at a BA from Simon's Rock College of Bark.

Has anyone heard of it? Your opinions?

Thanks :)

I have a friend who applied to go there. :] I wouldn't personally go to college early - I'm not sure how smart it is developmentally - but it's a good place to transfer out of.

Not the environment I'd have wanted to be in, but look into it!

I don't know much about it, but I know twins who went there who started at Yale and Stanford this year, so I would assume it's not a negative.

Simon's Rock is an incredible place, for the right people. It definitely is not perceived as a negative by top universities, and people routinely transfer after two years (with an AA degree) to some of the best colleges in the country. It is an excellent Liberal Arts College, for young scholars, just as they state. But since it is an early college, it does require early maturity for it to be beneficial. But it is a totally viable alternative to the "standard" educational process, and well worth considering. I've had some personal experience with the school so feel free to email me if you would like some more details.
