rejection email came out

Dear ____,

   Thank you for applying to the Stanford Institutes of Medicine Summer Research Program (SIMR). Unfortunately, you were not one of the final candidates selected to participate in this summer's program. We received an overwhelming number of applications this year, making the selection process especially difficult. Due to funding and lab spot limitations, we were only able to select a very limited number of participants. Please note that given the large number of applicants, we are not able to respond to emails about the decision. We have a short wait list and those students have already been notified. Thank you again for your interest in SIMR and we wish you success in all your future endeavors.

-SIMR Staff

Rejected and not surprised hah

rejected and as they stated in their website they said they had very limited spots this yr and focused on underrepresented northern bay area students

Due to overall funding availability, grant restrictions, and logistical issues, SIMR will have far fewer positions than in previous years. Although any student is welcome to apply, beginning with the class entering summer 2018 SIMR will strongly focus on creating opportunities for local Northern California students who are economically disadvantaged or are underrepresented in science and medicine. SIMR staff and I are redoubling efforts to solicit applications from such students during the coming years. Our resources are limited and we have made this strategic decision to maximize SIMR’s impact on our community and on the nation’s STEM workforce.

@calmori
Did you go to SIMR last year? How is the experience? Can you give me tips on the application essays? I am planning to apply next year.
