katlynessa, if your grades now are exemplary or very good, you should not be worrying over bad results obtained (rather) long ago, since the unis do recognise that with consistently commendable grades obtained in recent times, it is likely that your bad results last time would have negligible implication on your ability to perform academically now.

hey guys i graduated from ngee ann poly’s chem eng prog with a gpa of 1.9, mainly because i never had the interest to study hard.

i am about to complete my ns this week (finally :D) but it has since made me rethink everything i have done and i am fully committed to craft a second chance for myself.

but im wondering about my chances to get into a university to study chem eng with my kind of gpa.

will a community college route be more assured, especially if i am to get a high gpa there? before applying to transfer in.

ive learned my lesson and i really want to do well for my sake

pls help! thanks :D

how did you guys enroll in canadian Unis anywya? i tried looking for those agents that handle all the paperwork for you but the only 1 i found seems to have disappeared, leaving behind a handphone number to call.

I didn’t use agents but it’s pretty easy to apply! Just read the instructions on the websites and you’ll be set. E.g. for McGill, I took 15 minutes to complete the online app and had my teachers mail my results. Very simple, although some courses require you to write a personal statement. Some universities have a common application (OUAC for universities in Ontario) which makes life even easier. App fees are way more expensive.

Hey, i want to enroll in some business in NYU Stern in US.
However, apparently i cannot find any business challenge for Singapore junior college level?
Anyone has any idea is there any comp for business and entreprenuership challenge/competittion? TY

You don’t need any business competition/background to get into Stern.

Start-up@Singapore? That is the biggest one.
The GIC NEFMQ is related as well.

HI!
Im just darn confused right now with the common app
There are tons of things about results sending?
One of seniors from ACJC said that we need to send in whole transcript…basically term, mye, prelims… everything-> scary cuz i flunk mid term a lot
What scores do i need to send? Is it o level, promo, prelims, pw, predicted?
and how to match them with mid year reports and everything? thanks

At a minimum, you need to send in your O-level and predicted results, but your school might require you (or rather, your teachers) to send in more.

You can just send everything, the School Report, the Mid-Year Report together with all your grades since our educational system doesn’t correspond with theirs. When you get your final A-level/IB results, send it in with the Final Report.

I’d send in O-level, prelim and predicted results.

If you’re a guy and applying during NS (since NYU only allows a one-year deferral of enrollment), just send O-level and A-level results. NYU doesn’t require more than that.

i need some quick help here
May SATs:
Total 1960
Breakdown:
Maths: 780
Critical Reading:580
Writing:600

What should i do? During practice test, i scored around 2200…I’ve been told to just practice book after book because it is all about practice…any other suggestions because im pretty sure that my score definetely lies around the 2100 range…was really surprised when i got 1960

hey , just to ask, how much does our a levels affect our admissions to a US university. If i dont get straight a’s or something would that still allow me to get into a school like michigan or berkeley? plus, how do we calculate our GPA’s from our JC results?

1) Your academics matters of course, but if you apply before As are released then you could just send in promos/CTs results.

2) Sorry there’s no A levels -> GPA conversion.

Did you really practice under the exact same conditions (i.e. even if you finish the math section in 10 minutes you still got to wait for 15 more before continuing)? Sitting there for 4 hours can wreck your concentration.

There is no conversion. They will compare your grades to that of your fellow applicants directly.

To all Singaporean fellows, Im vietnamese studying in Singapore under A*STAR scholarship(trust me im no good compared to other scholars u know).
For example, if i apply to us universities, will i be competing against vnese from my country, or from singaporean applicants? as singaporean applicants from top JC are very competitive? thanks

you’ll be in the singaporean applicant pool.

I read somewhere in this forum being a vietnamese will put u in a singapore pool? but being accepted from a vietnamese pool? I dont know what the heck is that? can someone clarify that for me please?

I suggest you consult VietAbroader for more information. In any case, you are being compared with both VNese students (which is a less competitive group, I think) and Singaporean students – thus you have an advantage over other Singaporean students. But, because the US economy is so bad, the colleges are broke and can only offer fewer scholarships, so that’s bad for all international students.

So fiona_ you are saying that
