@SingerDancerMom
“@All4FSU Curious if you would share how many of the students who attended the FSU Summer MTI were later accepted into the FSU MT BFA program?”
First of all, thank you for asking; I’m a big fan of clarity.
We extended an offer of a place in the fall freshman class to three MTI students; two of whom accepted the offer. This is the first year we have done that, so I don’t know if we will again - I think it will depend upon a variety of factors. The thing I want to be clear about is that it did not change the number of acceptances made through the audition process. We are looking for a slightly bigger class this year and are making offers accordingly.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thank you for your candid answer Michele! I had no idea that BFA offers to summer participants was even a thing.
I read your answer to the other part of my question under my original comment. Thank you for your complete response. I appreciate how willing you are to share information to the parents in this space.
I’ll be curious to find out if any of the summer participants that weren’t one of the 3 that were extended offers at the end of the 2018 MTI were able to come back for their BFA auditions and impress the faculty enough that they were later offered a spot.

I have thought about your question above and I am sorry but I’m not comfortable answering it. Since MTI only has 26-28 participants, any answer I give will be far too personal and that’s a line I am not willing to cross. (The students who accepted offers last fall have already publicly disclosed that information.) I’m happy to discuss audition outcomes once results have been received, but only with the individual (or parent.)
@All4FSU I apologize. It appears my question put you in an uncomfortable position which was not my intention! FSU is my daughter’s top choice for a BFA program so I just want to make sure that her participation in the summer MTI will not hurt her chances in any way. Once again I truly appreciate how completely and candidly you answer parent questions. Thank you again Michele.
@iowamtmom,
We won’t start releasing decisions until the beginning of March. Since the reviewers are all in the middle of making class of 2020 decisions, we complete that before we work on MTI.
