Singers

Do you take lessons? Are you in your school choir? What songs are you working on? Profession or hobby?

i take lessons but im haveing trouble getting ready for nyssma. sight-reading sucks.

what level are you doing? i'm auditioning for all-state this year.

i do it for a hobby. I'm supposively a good singer and sang in front of my middle school pep rally last year which i bombed and couldve sang better. I just find singing as a fun way to take off my stress.

^ same here except...I dont take lessons...I shower sing lol

I only sing for funsies. Like... singing as terribly but as energetically as possible. I r-o-c-k ROCK Amazing Grace.

I take private lessons and I'm in choir. This year I'm representing my choir in the Festival of Gold as part of the honor choir. I've done various competitions and plan to audition for all-state next year. These are songs I'm currently working on:

Opretta/ standards:
Deh Vieni Non Tardar
O mio babino caro
I attempt from Love's sickness
Caro mio ben
Gial sole del gange
o del mio dulce
sebben crudele

Folk/Art songs:
A Little China Figure-
Green Dog

Musical Theatre:
I Could Have Danced All Night
Don't Rain on my Parade
Not for the Life of Me
Honey Bun

I sang in a pretty competitive show choir in middle school (great music dept..it was attached to a hs)...but basically, my hs choir SUCKS. It made me almost hate singing so I joined my church chorale which I LOVE! just a hobby

Liek I said...I sing in the shower

ok, i'm going to put in my stuff now. i've been taking private voice lessons for about 3 1/2 years and i currently have 2 voice teachers (one private, one for free in my school with 2 boys). i'm auditioning for all-state and i did nyssma level 6 last year (the black swan). this year i'm doing deh vieni non tardar. i'm also currently working on green finch and linnet bird and i'm not afraid of anything.

I take private voice lessons and I'm in my school's chamber choir. We're going to be performing at Carnegie next month.. I'm pretty excited. I love to sing and play instruments - my mother is a piano teacher, but I do not see it as my profession unless it was the only thing I could fall back on.

I sing just for fun. I'm in my school's chamber choir, and I'm doing musical theatre this semester (the production is Peter Pan this year :)).

I've been singing in school choirs since seventh grade, and I'm in eleventh now. I wasn't really serious when I'd started - I had to pick another elective and I chose that over drama. Good choice. I've made All-State choir for the past two years, and I'm in the musicals, formality singers, and small ensembles at school.

No intentions of making a career of it, but it's definitely something I'll be doing for the rest of my life.

ooh yeah, i'm also in my school choir and chamber choir and i do musicals when i can. no intentions of a career, but i definitely want to keep it as a hobby.

I started doing musical theatre in elementary school, and that's branched out into the three choruses I'm in now: gospel (we're doing Psalm 23 and Kirk Franklin and fun stuff like that), jazz (lots of Duke Ellington this concert-- Satin Doll is my fave), and a cappella (which I co-direct...we're performing two awesome Beatles arrangements). I did classical voice up till this year, where I was absolutely too busy to continue, but I really want to pick it up again.

I wish I was a belter more than anything, haha. too bad I'm a soprano...

im in church choir and a lower tenor (got dropped from high tenor to low tenor after i hit puberty when i was 12-ish XD) its mainly voluntary and a hobby. its really fun sometimes but really nerve-wracking when i do solos or duets.

I take private voice lessons and I'm doing choir as an elective next year. I've been singing for a looong time, but it's purely a hobby. I don't compete in it, and I havn't won any prestigious awards :)

I'm in 2 varsity choirs (concert and chamber).

I love choir.

I'm competing in UIL. Going to state for both ensemble and solo.

I love choir.

Go Tenors*!*

The choir at our school is very intense, we put on at least 4 big productions every year: a Broadway Revue, Holiday Concert (mostly in latin :-) ), A Madrigal Renaissance Dinner, Masque, and Concert, and End of Year Revue.

I'm in our varsity choir (60 people) and exclusive performing jazz ensemble (12 members), which sings annually at the Christmas at the Texas Capital.

Two year All-Stater, junior year alto 2, senior year soprano 1 (no joke)

For the senior recital I'll pick up several old pieces and add:
O mio babino caro (I see someone else is doing this one too!)
The Laughing Song
Lighthearted Lovers
If I Never Knew You (Pocohontas rocks, and it goes up to a high D, pray for my that I won't squeak!!!)

Choir rocks my socks!

I'm in our choir, and in our a cappella group. Got into District Choir for a few years too. I love singing. :D I'm a Soprano...I can do 1 but I switch depending on what we need. Unfortunately our choir director is awful (luckily a cappella is student-directed!) so he just sticks all the people who suck (it's a no-audition choir so we're really bad) into Soprano 2 and all the good people on 1...our harmonies tend to sound bad so sometimes I just can't stand it and end up moving to 2nd Soprano. :P
